THE OVERARCHING INTENT OF THE PROJECT IS TO EXPAND AND SHIFT THE DOMINANT NARRATIVE AROUND INCARCERATION AND REENTRY; TO BUILD RELATIONAL CAPACITY FOR COLLABORATION WITHIN THE JUSTICE-INVOLVED MEMBERS AND BETWEEN THE JUSTICE-INVOLVED AND OTHER COMMUNITY LEADERS; TO ENHANCE MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING AND RESPECT BETWEEN RETURNEES, FAMILY MEMBERS, FAITH AND CIVIC LEADERS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS. R TO THE POWER OF 3 EMPLOYS MULTIPLE CREATIVE PATHWAYS FOR SHARING THESE STORIES, INCLUDING STORY CYCLES; INTERACTIVE, TRAVELING EXHIBITS; AND AUDIO/VIDEO PIECES. WHAT ARE THE UNIQUE CHALLENGES OF AND NEW POSSIBILITIES FOR REENTRY? THIS IS THE FUNDAMENTAL QUESTION WE WILL EXPLORE WITH VARIED STAKEHOLDERS IN THE COMMUNITY.202432569349301768

WE HAVE COLLECTED AND DOCUMENTED VOICES FROM DIVERSE NORTH CAROLINA COMMUNITIES. THESE STORIES EASILY MIGHT BE LOST, AND HIDDEN VOICES CURRENTLY HAS LIMITED CAPACITY TO SHARE THIS WEALTH OF MATERIAL. WE WOULD PARTICULARLY LIKE TO DIGITIZE THE PROJECTS FUNDED BY NC HUMANITIES, INCLUDING AT EASE: BRIDGING THE MILITARY-CIVILIAN DIVIDE; HOME IS NOT ONE STORY: EXPLORING THE MANY FACES OF HOME AND HOME-LESSNESS; NONE OF THE ABOVE: DISMANTLING THE SCHOOL TO PRISON PIPELINE; AND NOT YO MAMAS HOME COOKING: THE CHANGING FACE OF RURAL NORTH CAROLINA. IF FUNDING ALLOWS, WE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO DIGITIZE BECAUSE WERE STILL HERE (AND MOVING): MAPPING A WORLD OF BLACK HISTORY IN OUR OWN BACKYARD AND STANDING ON LOVEPORTRAITS AND REFLECTIONS BY FAMILY MEMBERS OF THOSE LIVING ON NORTH CAROLINAS DEATH ROW. STANDING ON LOVE IS A COMPONENT OF SERVING LIFE: REVISIONING JUSTICE, WHICH IS FUNDED IN PART BY TWO HUMANITIES FOR THE PUBLIC GOOD GRANT AWARDS.202232519349300133
