2020Moonlight Community FoundationBig Brothers and Sisters of Gallatin County Bozeman, MTA$7,000paidALL OF OUR PROGRAMMING SEEKS TO MATCH YOUTH WITH A PROFESSIONALLY-TRAINED MENTOR TO HELP YOUTH THRIVE AND BE THEIR BEST SELF. AMY HUNTER, OUR BIG SKY BRANCH COORDINATOR, HAS BEEN HARD AT WORK MODIFYING OUR PROGRAMS TO BE ABLE TO RUN VIRTUALLY WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT'S CURRENT COVID-19 SCHOOL SCHEDULE TO ENSURE THAT YOUTH STAY CONNECTED THROUGH THIS TUMULTUOUS YEAR. THE SCHOOL AND BBBS AGREED TO BEGIN THE FALL SEMESTER WITH OUR 42 CONTINUING MATCHES (I.E. MATCHES THAT WERE ALREADY MATCHED IN THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR) WHICH INCLUDES 77 BIG SKY YOUTH THROUGH THE BIG & LITTLES, STEM SISTERS, AND BEYOND SCHOOL PROGRAM. AMY HAS BEEN IN TOUCH WITH PARENTS AND KIDS AND THEY ARE ALL EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO STILL MEET VIRTUALLY. FUNDING FROM MOONLIGHT COMMUNITY FOUNDATION WOULD HELP US CONTINUE TO ENSURE YOUTH THRIVE THROUGH OUR THREE MENTORING PROGRAMS IN BIG SKY (DESCRIBED IN MORE DETAIL BELOW) AS WELL AS SUPPORT OUR PROGRAMMING AROUND YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH.202121379349302382

WE CURRENTLY HAVE THREE ACTIVE PROGRAMS IN BIG SKY THAT THIS FUNDING WOULD SUPPORT: BIGS AND LITTLES: PAIRS ELEMENTARY "LITTLES" WITH HIGH SCHOOL "BIGS AND SOME MIDDLE SCHOOL "LITTLE BIGS" (MENTORS-IN-TRAINING). THEY MEET ONCE A WEEK IN THE SCHOOL. THIS PROGRAM HAS SEEN TREMENDOUS GROWTH THIS YEAR GOING FROM 16 MATCHES IN THE 2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR TO 35 MATCHES IN THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR. THERE ARE ALSO 12 MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS PARTICIPATING AS "LITTLE BIGS", INCLUDING TWO LITTLES FROM LAST YEAR WHO ARE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL THIS YEAR (THIS IS UP FROM 5 LITTLE BIGS LAST YEAR). STEM SISTERS: THIS PROGRAM, WHICH MATCHES 8TH GRADE GIRLS WITH A KINDER OR 1ST GRADE GIRL TO WORK ON A STEM (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, MATH) PROJECT EACH WEEK. ADDITIONALLY, THERE ARE WEEKLY FEMALE PROFESSIONAL SPEAKERS THAT COME TO TALK WITH THE GIRLS EACH WEEK ABOUT THEIR CAREE202041789349301104
